“This happened around 7 a.m. this morning,” the Mannington Police Department said, as reported by E!. “We were called for a report of a woman in cardiac arrest. She was pronounced dead at the scene and her body was transported to Fairmont Regional Medical Center. This is an active investigation, so we cannot determine if there was foul play or not suspected at this time.”

A police spokesperson did not immediately respond to Yahoo Entertainment’s request for comment.

In a statement to Yahoo Entertainment, an MTV spokesperson said, “MTV is deeply saddened to hear about the tragic loss of Alexis Eddy. Our hearts go out to her family and friends during this difficult time.”

Eddy appeared in the New Orleans-set, sixth season of the matchmaking show, which began airing in September 2017.

Her social media pages show that she was focused on recovery from addiction over the past few months. In one post, the reality star smiled alongside her father. She described in the caption that it was the first time they had taken a photo together when they were both “sober and healthy,” and she posted it alongside an earlier image of the pair together.

Her grandmother, Carol Efaw, told Radar Online that her granddaughter’s death was an overdose.

“Those shows mess up kids,” Efaw said.

At the same time, TMZ reported that a family member said Eddy was still sober when she returned to her mother’s home about 11 p.m. Wednesday night.

Following the news of Eddy’s death, Are You the One? cast members and others remembered her.
