Was That Alexander Skarsgard’s Real Penis on ‘Big Little Lies’? Fans Need to Know

HBO’s miniseries “Big Little Lies” has fans hooked on the murder mystery. But in the second-to-last episode, which aired last night, a greater puzzle arose over the blink-and-you’ll-miss-it appearance of Alexander Skarsgard‘s penis.

They all want to know: Was it real or fake? (Beware of spoilers below.)

Skarsgard plays Perry Wright, abusive husband to Nicole Kidman’s character Celeste. In the scene in which Perry’s penis is exposed, Celeste is getting ready for the opening night of “Avenue Q,” the community play that she helped her friend Madeline Mackenzie (Reese Witherspoon) get into production. Perry has come home early from a business trip to Phoenix to see the play with Celeste. They start to get a little frisky, however, when she tells him to cool it because they’ll be late, he whips out his penis. “God, that’s quite a trick,” Celeste says.

Perry, the abusive man-child that he is, gets angry. He violently grabs her hair, and she reacts by grabbing a nearby tennis racquet and slamming it into his nether region. The result, we find out in a proceeding scene, is a broken urethra in two places, and an even angrier Perry. “You’re lucky I didn’t kill you,” he tells Celeste when they return home from the hospital.

TheWrap, in an attempt to solve the, ahem, big mystery, reached out to HBO and have yet to hear back on whether audiences saw Skarsgard’s real (or fake) penis.

HBO is known for not shying away from nudity. Skarsgard also showed his penis as Eric Northman on HBO’s vampire series “True Blood.” And in the current season of “Girls,” Matthew Rhys played a character who took out his penis for Lena Dunham’s character Hannah Horvath, but TheWrap confirmed that that part was indeed a fake.
