Alexander Skarsgård and Margot Robbie Dish on Their ‘Animalistic’ Sex Scene
Alexander Skarsgård and Margot Robbie are heating things up on-screen. The actors star as Tarzan and Jane in the upcoming flick The Legend of Tarzan, so when The Insider With Yahoo caught up with them, we just had to ask about their sexy love scenes.
“David [Yates] was like, ‘It’s Tarzan and Jane. When they have sex, it’s got to be primal and animalistic, intense,’” Skarsgård said. “He was egging us both on, especially Margot, because he was like, ‘It’s important that she goes as feral and primal as Tarzan does.’”
While Skarsgård and Robbie committed to the scene, the 25-year-old actress admitted it wasn’t comfortable to shoot. “It was a really weird scene to shoot,” she said. “And then you’ve got your camera guy right here and right here as well.”
To get in tip-top Tarzan shape, Skarsgård had to go through months of training and restrictive eating. He detailed his plan on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert recently.
“We did it in phases. The first phase was three months of 7,000 calories a day and lots of weightlifting to get bigger,” he said. “Phase two is less exciting. That’s when they cut down the meals … six meals a day and more cardio to get rid of the fat. [I had] no fun for eight months.”
And his co-stars tormented him onstage, especially Samuel L. Jackson. “Everybody ate things very slowly in front of Alexander’s face,” Jackson told The Insider With Yahoo. “He was on this very strict diet. He had to eat 19 times a day, but they were these little bowls of things. … As soon as they’d say ‘cut!’ Magnus, his trainer, would come over with these big-ass weights and just hand them to him.”
