Alex Trebek's family, 'Jeopardy' donate late game show host's clothing to charity

Alex Trebek's impeccable fashion will continue to live on.

At the suggestion of Trebek's son, Matthew Trebek, his family and "Jeopardy!" are donating much of the late game show host's wardrobe to The Doe Fund, a non-profit organization working to break the cycle of incarceration, homelessness and addiction by providing vocational training, employment and more.

"During his last day on set, Alex extolled the virtues of everyone opening up their hands and their hearts to those who are suffering," the game show's executive producer Mike Richards said in a statement. "Donating his wardrobe to those who are working to rebuild their lives is the perfect way to begin to honor that last request.”

Trebek's donated clothing includes everything from suits and dress shirts to sweaters and parkas.

"We understand the enormous loss Matt and Jean are going through, as well as their incredible resilience in the face of hardship. Last week, The Doe Fund's Founder and President of 35 years, my husband George McDonald, passed away," The Doe Fund's president Harriet McDonald said in a statement. "I'm thankful that George got to see Alex's suits delivered to the people we serve before he left us. This generous gift honors the legacies of both men, and I know they're smiling down on us."

The longtime game show host died in November at 80 after battling Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. He had hosted the brainy quiz show since its syndicated revival premiered in 1984 and was the winner of seven Emmys.

Last week, "Jeopardy!" announced a new lineup of television personalities who will lead the syndicated game show in Trebek's absence.

The newest guest hosts include NBC "Today" co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, "The Doctor Oz Show” host Dr. Mehmet Oz, CNN anchor Anderson Cooper and Dr. Sanjay Gupta, CNN's Chief Medical Correspondent.

Although the length of their stints isn't clear, "Jeopardy!" said the game show will make a financial contribution to the designated charity of each host's choosing.

"The amount donated will equal the cumulative winnings of the contestants that compete during the weeks they serve as guest host," reads a "Jeopardy!" announcement.
