You’ve gotta give Alex Rodriguez credit — he’s an ace at moral support. The latest example? He just shared behind-the-scenes videos of Jennifer Lopez’s Super Bowl halftime rehearsal, which include him bringing his fiancée and her hardworking backup dancers a sweet (literally and figuratively) treat. And thanks to A-Rod’s sneak peeks, we’re more curious than ever about what Lopez has up her sleeve for Super Bowl LIV.

Rodriguez took to Instagram on Sunday to share not one but two inside-access videos of Lopez preparing for her dream gig at the Super Bowl on Feb. 2, 2020. In the first video, she appears to be on a break in between sets as she stands in a crowd of young dancers. Armed with ice cream for everyone, Rodriguez proved a welcome distraction as he approached the enthusiastic group. “All they wanted was a little ice cream,” he wrote, hashtagging the video “#superbowlrehearsals.”

In a second video, Lopez casually dances in place as Nina Sky’s “Move Ya Body” streams in the background. Also in the background? One of Lopez’s backup dancers, who similarly can’t help dancing along to the music. “This is how I feel about Christmas shopping,” Rodriguez playfully captioned the video of his soon-to-be wife’s moves. “Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!”

Naturally, these videos make us wonder what sort of halftime performance to expect. The presence of such young backup dancers suggests Lopez could be planning something a bit more poignant. And that tracks, considering the comments Lopez made to Variety in November. “I want it to be a celebration of who we are. All of us, because we’re in this together,” she told the outlet. “That’s how I feel. I want to bring everybody together in that moment.”

Lopez also alluded to the fact that the performance will be a celebration of Latin culture, telling Variety, “I think it’s important in this day and age for two Latin women to be standing on that stage — when Latinos are being treated a certain way in this country, or looked at a certain way — to show that we have a really specific and beautiful culture and worth and value, and we bring something to this country that’s necessary.”

Given that context and Rodriguez’s behind-the-scenes teasers, we can’t help but feel amped up. Which is to say, you scream, I scream, we’ll all soon be screaming as Lopez and Shakira (and possibly Cardi B, too?) take the field for the big game.
