Alex Rodriguez stopped by The Tonight Show, where Jimmy Fallon thought it’d be fun to pit the former New York Yankee against his greatest competition yet: a 1-year-old.

To be fair, Asher Willig is a hitting prodigy, who recently went viral in a batting-cage video posted on his dad’s Instagram.

Still, one of the best hitters of all time had a bit of an advantage. Or so we thought.

With 30 seconds on the clock, Rodriguez missed a couple of hits almost right off the bat, even stating, “That’s why I’m doing TV now, fellas.” The baseball star did manage to get his swing back though, eventually sending the balls straight for the live audience members. “Getting pelted by A-Rod,” exclaimed Fallon. “This is fantastic!” At the end of Rodriguez’s timer, he scored eight hits, which surprisingly was not enough to beat year-old Asher. The little baseball phenom got everyone excited when he made nine hits in 30 seconds, which ended up inspiring Rodriguez to pitch an idea for what Asher should pursue in the future. “Future Yankee! He’s a future Yankee!”
