The world could be keeping up with the Baldwin bunch very soon!

A source tells PEOPLE that Alec Baldwin and his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, are "pitching a family reality show that would give an inside look at their life" with their seven children: Carmen Gabriela, 10, Rafael Thomas, 8, Leonardo Ángel Charles, 7, Romeo Alejandro David, 5, Eduardo "Edu" Pao Lucas, 3, María Lucía Victoria, 2, and Ilaria Catalina Irena, 14 months. (The 30 Rock alum also shares  Ireland Baldwin, 27, with ex-wife Kim Basinger.)

"They're excited but would only do it if it was an authentic portrayal of who they are as a family," the insider says. "The kids all have such fun personalities and Hilaria and Alec know how much interest there is in their lives."

The source adds that Alec, 65, and Hilaria, 39, both "like the idea of giving people a behind-the-scenes look at raising a big family."

The possibility of a Baldwin family reality series first emerged on SiriusXM's Let's Talk Off Camera podcast when Alec told host Kelly Ripa that they were considering pitches due to the pair's large brood.

"Everything's about my family. I have really tried in the last several years, once we had five and then six, and then seven kids. I can't go anywhere for any length of time," he explained.

"In the old days, I'd jump on a plane and go to L.A.. ... It was easy to pick up and go ... I need 12 plane tickets — nannies, kids, my wife, I need, like, 11," he continued. "They don't even have 11 seats in the business class section of the plane."

The It's Complicated actor noted that "everything" he does is "filtered through the idea of my family."

"[The] jobs I take, jobs I don't take. Somebody said, a famous TV producer who I won't name, said to me, 'Come do a series with me in Vancouver.' And I was like, 'I'm not going to Vancouver for five months. That's not happening,'" he recalled. "So everything we did and then shows we have considered and pitches we've heard, and even one or two pitches we've made about our family and that reality show has all been so we could stay home and just work from home. I'm desperate to try to work from New York."
