Alec Baldwin's Latest On-Camera Appearance May Signal How 'Rust' Court Case Affected His Career

Alec Baldwin must be pretty eager to sell his Amagansett, New York because he’s appearing in his own real estate video. The promotional clip shows his stunning $18,995,000 million estate in the background as he takes a walk through his history with the tony Hamptons area.

“I’ve had a home out here on the east end of Long Island since 1981,” Baldwin said. “When I was younger, we’d come out here and we’d sleep all morning and lay on the beach all day. When you’re young, this place is the best.” The 65-year-old actor bounced around in a rental for five years before buying his first home “around the corner from Atlantic Avenue Beach.” After the nostalgic look at his home purchases, Baldwin shared that he bought his current (and expansive) 10-acre property in 1995.

The Saunders & Associates listing shows that the residence boasts 10,000 square feet, seven bedrooms, seven full bathrooms, and two half-baths. Describing it as “elegant estate living,” the “modern farmhouse” offers a “private hilltop vantage” of the lush area. With A-list amenities like a movie theater, wine-tasting room, and a large pool and spa, it’s surprising that this property hasn’t been scooped up already. Baldwin originally put his place on the market in November 2022 for $29 million, but he’s subsequently had to lower the price more than once, according to Zillow.

A second price drop occurred in January 2023, bringing it down to $24.9 million, and a third price drop two months later kept it in the $22.5 million range until it was taken off the market. “I fell in love with this place the moment I came here,” Baldwin gushed in the clip “You just can’t get this out here anymore. I love coming here. I’m always happiest when I come here.”

While the actor’s promotional video seems like an unusual PR step to take, it’s likely tied to the Rust controversy after cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was killed on the set in New Mexico. In 2021, Baldwin was rehearsing a shooting scene when the gun he was holding fired and killed the crew member while injuring director Joel Souza.

The original charges of involuntary manslaughter were dropped by the prosecutor, but there is a pending grand jury to decide whether to take up a new case with fresh evidence. There have also been several civil cases from the incident that Baldwin has had to navigate, likely forcing the downsizing of his real estate portfolio. He sold an upstate New York property in 2022 while still retaining his $16 million Manhattan apartment and a small farm in Vermont worth $1.75 million.
