Alec Baldwin Reveals How He Created His Famous President Trump Impression

Alec Baldwin stopped by The Late Show With Stephen Colbert where he revealed how he created his famous Donald Trump impression.

It all started when Saturday Night Live’s creator Lorne Michaels asked if he would perform as Trump. Baldwin joked that Michaels should have said, “Come and do Trump every Saturday for 18 consecutive weeks.”

While preparing for the role, which Baldwin referred to as a caricature, he said the writers and cast were quite helpful in finding Trump’s comedic traits. “You pick a few things…left eyebrow up, right eyebrow down, shove your face out like you’re trying to suck the chrome off the fender of a car.”

People really seem to like Baldwin’s impression, in fact he said, “It’s kind of eerie, actually, more than anything I have ever done, people come up to me and say something to me on the streets.” Baldwin went on to say he doesn’t mind being approached on the streets, but he warns that his toddler daughter doesn’t quite have his patience and might yell, “I don’t like you!”

The Late Show With Stephen Colbert airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. on CBS.
