Alec Baldwin Opens Up About Past Drug And Alcohol Problems
Actor Alec Baldwin discussed his past battles with drug and alcohol, telling ABC’s George Stephanopoulos that it was a “tough time” full of “a lot of pain.”
“I got sober when I was just about to turn 27,” the “Boss Baby” star said. “And those two years that I lived in that white, hot period, as a daily drug abuser, as a daily drinker … to my misery, boy, that was a tough time … there was really, really a lot of pain in there, a lot of pain.”
The interview, which will air Monday on “Good Morning America,” is to promote his upcoming book, “Nevertheless.” The memoir describes his struggles with substance abuse and getting sober, revealing that he stopped drinking back on Feb. 23, 1985.

“I think I would’ve got it eventually, but, I’m glad I got it when I did ’cause not many people get sober when they’re young,” Baldwin said when Stephanopoulos asked what would have happened if he had not stop drinking when he did.
Baldwin has been impersonating President Trump on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live,” but hinted in a recent interview with the Press Association that the impression would probably not continue past this season.
“[This season] I’m going to go do it as much as I can … beyond that I don’t quite know — I don’t quite know if people want to continue with that,” he said. “If everything stays the same in this country as it is now, I don’t think people are going to be in the mood to laugh about it come September.”
