Alec Baldwin and Hailey Bieber mourn death of mom, grandmother: 'I celebrate her, the life she lived'

Alec Baldwin and Hailey Bieber are mourning the loss of their family matriarch, Carol Baldwin.

The "30 Rock" actor announced the death of his mother on Instagram Thursday, writing that she died at age 92 in Syracuse, New York. In his post, he wrote that his mom spent much of her life advocating for breast cancer research and was part of support groups after surviving the disease herself.

"My mother taught me about second acts. And third ones, too. She spent the last 25 years of her life as a fighter and a champion for the cause to which she devoted so much energy," Alec wrote. "We are all enormously proud of her accomplishments."

His wife, Hilaria Baldwin, posted a photo of Alec Baldwin Thursday with a message of comfort to her husband writing, "She lives on in you, her other babies, their babies…our babies…in all of those who loved her and knew her big heart."

Bieber, who is Alec Baldwin's niece, shared her own post to remember her "beautiful Grandma."

"The matriarch of the Baldwin family completed her journey here on earth," Bieber wrote Friday. "Today I celebrate her, the life she lived, and the legacy she leaves behind. We love you."

Many celebrities sent their condolences to the Baldwin family, including Rosie O'Donnell and Leslie Jordan. 

"My love to u all - carol was wonderful," O'Donnell wrote.

Kris Jenner sent her condolences to Bieber writing, "Awww I’m so sorry Hails!!!! What a beauty."

"So sorry to hear the sad news. May she live forever in your memory and your stories," Jordan wrote to Alec Baldwin.

Actress Meredith Salenger wrote: "Oh Alec, so sorry for your loss. She sounded as committed to important causes as you are. Sending love and hugs your way. Xoxo."
