Alec Baldwin Back As Donald Trump On ‘SNL’ This Week

Alec Baldwin will “don” the wig again this weekend to play Donald Trump on Saturday Night Live, 11 days after Trump was elected President of the United States — and after Baldwin did not appear last week on NBC’s late-night staple.

Baldwin told Vanity Fair last night during the annual American Natural History Museum fundraising gala in New York — which was heavy on SNL castmembers past and present — that the weekend work makes it hard for him to commit to regular appearances on the show, but that he will be back for tomorrow night’s episode hosted by Kristen Wiig. Sources close to SNL confirmed he will be back.

Baldwin’s election-season portrayals of Trump opposite Kate McKinnon’s Hillary Clinton have helped ramp up SNL‘s ratings and buzz. The return will keep people guessing as to whether the former 30 Rock actor will continue in the role or SNL will find a more permanent solution now that the ex-Celebrity Apprentice host is in the White House. Trump himself would appear to favor someone other than Baldwin.

This year’s ANHM gala was hosted by former SNLer and current talk-show host Seth Meyers, with more than 700 guests raising more than $1 million. The museum said attendees also included such SNL cast members as Bobby Moynahan and Leslie Jones, and alum Tina Fey — all of whom took shots at boss Lorne Michaels, who was there after earlier in the day learning he will receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Ben Stiller, Helen Mirren, Jon Hamm and Tony Bennett were also at the event, which featured a Mario Batali-designed menu and a performance by Michael Bublé.

Wiig hosts SNL tomorrow with musical guest The xx.
