Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta, Jo Koy and La Llorona among top things to do in El Paso

Chalk the Block returns for its 16th year this weekend with more than 200 artists and engaging art installations. Comedian Jo Koy is coming to town for his comedy show at the Don Haskins Center.

Halloween fun is set at the El Paso County Coliseum. The area corn mazes continue with family fun, pumpkin patches and food. And San Elizario will be the site for a fun re-telling of the La Llorona story.

The Balloon Festival continues in New Mexico for one more weekend in Albuquerque.

Here is a closer look at this weekend's events.

Comedian Jo Koy brings his World Tour show to El Paso with a performance at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Don Haskins Center. Tickets are $43 to $63, plus fees, available via Ticketmaster.com.

Enjoy La Llorona play in San Elizario

The tale of La Llorona is always appropriate around this season and the Cultural Heritage Society does a great job of presenting the play, La Llorona. The pre-show will be at 6 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 14 and and the play begins at 7 p.m. in San Elizario Main Street Stage. Free admission. Seating is limited, so bring your own chairs and bug spray.

Chalk the Block returns this weekend

Chalk the Block will host a Preview Night from 6 to 10 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 13. The festival continuesfrom 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, in the Downtown Arts District. It is a free admission event. Information: www.chalktheblock.com

Halloween Mega Market at County Coliseum

A Halloween Mega Market will take place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at the El Paso County Coliseum. Families are encouraged to dress in costumes and start their trick-or-treating fun. There will be vendors, food trucks and music. Free admission. Information at (915) 630-7502.

Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta continues this weekend

The 51st annual Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta will be held Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 14-15, at the Balloon Fiesta Park in northern Albuquerque. The fiesta will include live entertainment, many vendors and plenty of hot air balloons to enjoy. Festivities will begin well before sunrise each day. Ticketing is based on two daily sessions — morning sessions and evening sessions. General admission for people 12 and up is $15 per person for one session.

Coffee at the Trail

The El Paso Mission Trail Association will have Coffee at the Trail at 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Mission Trail Visitor Center, 9065 Alameda Ave. Enjoy an engaging talk on the bilingual children's book, "Famous Places in El Paso History," written and illustrated by Maria Almeida Natividad. TecH2O School Break event

Take the kids to the TecH2O Center, 10751 Montana Ave., from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, for fun Water Discovery activities. There will be a spooky solar Ppaper art wax, watercolor spider webs and bubbling cauldron watercolor art. Kids can come dressed in Halloween costumes and grab a candy bag while supplies last. Free admission.

The second Hooters for El Paso will open with some fanfare Monday, Oct. 16. The restaurant, at 1799 Joe Battle Blvd., will open with a 2024 Hooters Calendar signing from 5 to 8 p.m., allowing fans to meet and have their calendars signed by some of the Hooters Girls in the calendar. The grand opening will be at 4 p.m.

Get lost at La Union Maze

The La Union Maze continues on 45 acres of land with a 12-acre maze and pumpkin patch, more than 17 activity stations and food stands. Hours will be 5 to 9 p.m. Fridays, 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturdays, and 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays. General admission is $12, $6 for kids ages 2-5. There is a Haunted Maze experience for an additional $12. The maze is going cashless, so use credit cards to purchase tickets online.

El Paso Maze and pumpkin patch

The El Paso's Farm Land maze is open weekends through Oct. 20 at 1100 Nuevo Tanks Blvd. Hours: 1 to 6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, Oct. 7-8, Oct. 14-15, Oct. 21-22, and Oct. 28-29. The farmland offers a pumpkin patch, rides, food and games. Tickets available at the maze are $11.95 plus tax for ages 12 and up, $8.95 plus tax for ages 3-11, and free for ages up to 2. Active military, teachers and seniors get a discounted price, $10.95 plus tax with ID.

Mesilla Valley Maze and pumpkin patch

The Mesilla Valley Maze will be open weekends through Oct. 29 at 3855 W. Picacho Ave. in Las Cruces. Visitors can enjoy hayrides, giant slides, a country store, duck races and face painting. The Maze will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. General admission is $18, children under 12 are $15, and two and under are free. $2 military discount with ID.
