Following Deadline’s exclusive news last week that Alberto Rosende will make his final appearance on NBC’s Chicago Fire in the Season 12 premiere, the actor is opening up about his decision.

“When I decided to end my time with Chicago, it wasn’t easy. The people I’ve met were truly special, the friendships I’ve made will last a lifetime, and the story I got to tell was one that made me proud. Can’t wait to see what else is in store and I wish everyone the best in shooting the rest of the season.” Rosende shared via Instagram Story on Saturday over a screenshot of Deadline’s story.

More from Deadline

Rosende debuted on the hit NBC series in the second episode of Season 8 titled, “A Real Shot In The Arm,” as a reckless new candidate for Firehouse 51 who impressed, yet frustrated his colleagues. His exit from the Wolf Entertainment/Universal Television drama was fully amicable, sources shared.

Also set to move on in Season 12 is Kara Killmer, who played Sylvie Brett since Season 3. And although fans will see two fan favorites move on, Taylor Kinney will make his big return following a leave of absence.

NBC’s Chicago Fire returns with all new episodes on Wednesday, January 17 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The shortened season will consist of 13 episodes.
