Alberta Shelter Seeks Human to Adopt Both Blind Dog and His 'Support Cat' Friend

A blind dog and his “support cat” best friend will be up for adoption together after the pooch recovers from medical care provided by a Canadian animal shelter.

Footage shared by Saving Grace Animal Society shows the unlikely bond between the dog, Spike, and his cat friend, Max, who solicitously stays close to the impaired dog.

Max, who the shelter said was more of a “support cat” than a seeing-eye cat, bonded with Spike because they were both living outdoors and needed each other’s body heat.

Spike’s eyes were removed by veterinarians due to painful cataracts, according to local news reports. The best friends will be up for adoption as a unit after Spike’s recovery. Credit: Saving Grace Animal Society via Storyful
