Alan Thicke’s wife Tanya Callau breaks silence about husband’s death

Alan Thicke’s widow Tanya Callau has made her first public comments in the wake of her husband’s death last week. Callau expressed she’s encountered “unbelievable grief” in the days after the former Growing Pains star died of a heart attack at 69 years old.

“It is with gut wrenching sadness and unbelievable grief that I thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for the outpouring of love and support during this unimaginable time,” the statement reads, according to E!. “Through tears and smiles our dearest of family and friends came together at our home to celebrate the life of my sweet and devoted husband Alan Thicke. Yesterday, along with my stepsons and our combined extended family, we laid my beloved husband, soul mate and the patriarch of our family to rest. We ask that you respect our privacy during this time of profound mourning.”

Callau and Thicke married in 2005, six years after they met. Callau, a Colombian model, costarred in the mockumentary reality series Unusually Thicke along with Thicke and his teenage son, Carter. She also served as an associate producer for season 1.

A memorial service was held for Thicke on Monday and drew his former costars, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Kirk Cameron, and his pop star son Robin Thicke.
