"I’m the most indiscreet person," Cumming says.

Alan Cumming needs to learn the words "spoiler alert!"

As the fabulous, kilted host of The Traitors, the Scottish actor must keep the biggest secret of the entire show and not reveal who the deceitful Traitors are to unknowing Faithfuls. But his track record of not spoiling big secrets is ... well, not the best, to put it lightly.

"I’m the most indiscreet person," Cumming told the room of reporters at the 2024 Television Critics Association Winter press tour on Wednesday. "When I was on The Good Wife and Will was murdered — do you remember Will was shot? — I told everyone."

Cumming starred as Eli Gold on the CBS drama, and even though he knew Josh Charles' character's shocking death after season 5's courtroom shooting had to be kept totally locked down before it aired, he just couldn't help telling those around him. Luckily, viewers of the show were still surprised by the twist when the episode aired.

"I can’t understand how that didn’t get out," he admitted with a laugh. "I remember once doing this fashion thing, and I sat down and a guy starts to do my hair, and he goes, 'I’m a huge fan of The Good Wife,' and I go, 'Will dies!' I mean, I told the hairdresser, who is statistically the worst person you can tell a secret to."

Now that his entire Peacock reality competition series relies on him keeping secrets, he has since learned to be better about keeping his mouth shut. "Since then I’m very conscious of it," he added.

It's something he thinks about constantly during filming now, especially when he secretly alerts a couple cast members that they are the Traitors at the first roundtable of the season by tapping their shoulders while everyone wears blindfolds. "I could f--- it up hugely by knocking someone with my elbow," Cumming said. "And there was one more [cast member] than last year, so they were more squashed at the table and I could barely get my arm in... I do all these tricks to try and confuse them."

The Traitors season 2 is currently releasing new episodes Thursdays, and The Traitors U.K. season 2 will begin streaming March 8, while The Traitors Australia season 2 and The Traitors New Zealand season 1 will begin streaming March 28, all on Peacock.
