Akon’s Key To Staying Rich Is Being A “Stingy Motherf**ker”

Being one of the most bankable music stars of his era, Akon knows a thing or two about accumulating wealth. However, the Senegalese artist reveals the secret to how he’s maintained his riches over the years, which he says is due to his unabashed stinginess when it comes to parting ways with his money.
During an appearance on Logan Paul’s Impaulsive podcast earlier this week, Akon deemed himself “the stingiest” person he knows. While advising others to minimize their costs, he keyed in on the seismic expense that can come from owning a private jet. “Listen, you want to stay rich? Stay stingy,” the Grammy-nominated singer said.
“I’m the stingiest motherf**ker on the planet. Any person of my caliber is not flying commercial. These dudes is flying jets all day. I attempted to own a jet. That sh*t lasted six months. I sold that motherf**ker so fast. You have no idea [about the costs]. I promise you.”
The Konvict Muzik founder continued, adding that renting a private jet is more feasible and cost efficient. “Buy some hours and use it only when necessary. And most of the time, use it as a way of negotiation. Let that be a part of your strategy to the money. But whatever you do, do not own a jet. Bro, owning a jet is spending at least $2-3 million a year just on upkeep. You spend more on the maintenance than the actual jet costs.”
Akon attributed rich people losing their wealth to their attempt to compete with others to maintain an image and lifestyle they can’t afford long-term. “If you’re trying to keep up with the Joneses, you’re never gonna be able to survive. It’s not sustainable,” he explained. “In music specifically, they have this theory you have to look like money to make money, when that’s completely false. You’re already a f**king star, you don’t have to look like sh*t. You have to be who you are.”
