Akiva Goldsman Quietly Lists Beverly Hills Villa

A vine-encrusted, vaguely Tuscan-style villa set behind massive wrought-iron gates on a secluded hillside high above Beverly Hills and owned, per property records, by screenwriter and producer Akiva Goldsman, has come up for sale outside the Multiple Listing Service with an asking price of $12.5 million. Goldman, who took home an Oscar in 2002 for “A Beautiful Mind,” will likely pocket a not-inconsiderable fortune on the just-shy-of-3.5-acre property he acquired in April 2007 for a bit more than $7 million from Red Hot Chili Peppers lead singer Anthony Kiedis.

The approximately 4,300-square-foot two-story residence has five bedrooms and six bathrooms plus a custom-designed bell tower with wrap-around views of the mountains, canyon, and city. Wrought-iron and glass doors open to an entry vestibule that steps down to a voluminous living room with a 16-foot wood-beamed ceiling, a terra-cotta tiled floor, and a massive fireplace — one of six in the house.

A quick spin through a variety of property-record databases indicates the Brooklyn-bred script doctor, who has a range of projects in the hopper, additionally owns a 3,200-square-foot bayfront contemporary in Southampton, N.Y., which he picked up over the summer of 2014 for $4.45 million. He also owns a 75-plus-acre spread near the upstate New York community of Pine Bush that belonged to his mother, the late clinical psychologist Mira Rothenberg.
