Aiken County Public Library events for the month of November

Nov. 1---- Coloring for Grown Ups will be held from 2-4 p.m. Tuesdays, Nov. 7 and 21 in the first floor Creative Lab. Bring your coloring pencils and felt pens. Coloring sheets and refreshments will be provided. Sign up at the reference desk or call 803-642-2020, ext. 3.

— Adult French Conversation will be held from 2-3:30 p.m. on Fridays. This is not for beginners. You must have some knowledge of French and be able to speak at an intermediate — advanced level. Contact Karine at the circulation desk to register. Call 803-642-2020 ext. 2

— A Book Club will meet on the third and fourth Tuesday in the first floor meeting room at 2:30-3:45 p.m. Group B meets Nov. 21 and will discuss "The Sweetness At The Bottom Of The Pie" by Alan Bradley. — Let's Talk About It: Stiff Upper Lips Book and Movie Series will discuss "The Age of Innocence" by Edith Wharton. Books are first come, first serve. The movie will be shown at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, and 6:30 p.m. at Tuesday, Nov. 7. A discussion with Dr. Todd Hagstette will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 14. Books are first come, first serve. These programs have the added bonus of a humanities scholar to broaden discussions. This program is made possible with a grant from SC Humanities. — "The Miracle Club," rated PG-13, will be shown at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17.There's just one dream for the women of Ballygar to taste freedom: to win a pilgrimage to the sacred French town of Lourdes. With a little benevolent interference from their local priest, a group of close friends get their ticket of a lifetime.

— "A Christmas Story Christmas," not rated, will be shown at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25. Ralphie returns to give his kids a magical Christmas like the one he had as a child. Long-awaited follow-up to holiday classic A Christmas Story starring Peter Billingsley.

— A Cookie House Contest will be held Nov. 1-28. Compete in a fun contest to win a prize. Open to all ages. For more information, go to our Facebook page, stop by a service desk, or visit abbe-lib.org.

— Storytime will be held Nov. 8 and 15. Ages 0 — 2, 10:15-10:45 a.m. Ages 3-5, 11-11:30 a.m. Songs and stories for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers. Register by calling 803-642-2020 ext. 1121 or stop by the circulation desk. Space is limited. A special guest will be joining us for Storytime at 11 a.m. on both dates. Children of any age can join us and a member from Aiken County Parks and Recreation! Don't forget to register!

— A Picture Book Scavenger Hunt will be held Nov. 27 through Dec. 2. Go on a scavenger hunt to find characters from picture books and be entered into a drawing to win one! Available during service hours. In partnership with Aiken Soil & Water Conservation District.

— A Dinovember Scavenger Hunt will be held Nov. 13-18. Go on a dinosaur scavenger hunt and be entered into a drawing to win a LEGO Jurassic World Stygimoloch Dinosaur Escape Building Kit. Available during service hours.

— Robotics for Tweens and Teens will be held Nov. 14 from 4:15-5:15 p.m. No experience or supplies needed! Just bring your enthusiasm and creativity. Register starting Nov. 1 at the circulation desk or by calling 803-642-2020 ext. 1121. For ages 11-18.

— A Tween Book Club will meet Nov. 30 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Read any mystery book, then join us for snacks, a discussion. Register starting Nov. 1 at the Circulation Desk or by calling 803-642-2020 ext. 1121. For ages 11-13.

The Aiken County Public Library is at 314 Chesterfield St. S.W. It is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday; and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday. It is closed on Sundays.
