Hulu will release a second season of the SNL performer's series
Season 2 is coming! Hulu announced that the second season of Aidy Bryant's Shrill will drop on January 24 with eight new episodes. Season one, which was released in March, only had six episodes.
Shrill, based on the book "Shrill: Notes from a Loud Woman" by Lindy West, is about an overweight young woman who wants to change her life, but not her body. The lead character Annie, played by Bryant, tries to make it as a journalist while juggling bad boyfriends, sick parents and a perfectionist boss in a world that deems her not good enough simply because of her weight. Over the course of the season she realizes that she's just as good as everyone else and starts acting like she believes it.
In a synopsis released from Hulu, Annie starts season two on a high, which doesn't last long. She realizes that quitting her job might not have been the best move, things with her mom aren't great, and when it comes to relationships, Ryan might not actually be the right match for her after all. This season, "Annie is no longer the doormat she once was, but it's not as easy as she thought to get what she always imagined she wanted."
In addition to Bryant, the Hulu series stars John Cameron Mitchell as Gabe Parrish, Lolly Adefope as Fran, Luka Jones as Ryan and Ian Owens as Adami.
Aidy Bryant joined late-night variety series Saturday Night Live for Season 38 back in 2012. During her time with the show, she's received two Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. Though she's had many funny bits on SNL, some recurring favorites include Morgan, co-host of Girlfriends Talk Show which she performs with co-star Cecily Strong, Tonker Bell, Lil' Baby Aidy and Melanie.
She's also had roles in Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Portlandia, At Home with Amy Sedaris, Danger & Eggs, Horace and Pete, Broad City, Girls and many more.
Even though she co-writes, co-executive produces and stars in Shrill, Aidy is still a regular cast member on Saturday Night Live and has no plans to leave.
