Former Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano (played by Rosario Dawson) takes on an emerging threat to the galaxy in the upcoming live-action Star Wars series Ahsoka, which premieres the first two episodes this Tuesday at 9/8c on Disney+.

The show takes place after the events of the animated series Star Wars Rebels, in which the small rebel cell known as the Ghost Crew helped liberate the Outer Rim planet Lothal from Imperial control.
During the Battle of Endor, as depicted in Return of the Jedi, the Rebel Alliance (including Luke Skywalker) destroyed the second Death Star which led to the Galactic Empire’s downfall. In the wake of the Galactic Empire’s demise, the rebels established the New Republic, and beloved leader Mon Mothma was elected to serve as its first chancellor.
Dave Filoni (Star Wars Rebels, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, The Mandalorian) developed Ahsoka and serves as both head writer and executive producer. Additional EPs include Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson, Carrie Beck and Karen Gilchrist.
With a large ensemble that includes Dawson, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and the late Ray Stevenson, it might be difficult to keep track of who’s who in the forthcoming series. That’s why we’re helping you get primed and ready with a breakdown of all the important figures.
Read on below for everything you need to know about Ahsoka’s main players, including the titular ex-Jedi and her Padawan Sabine.
Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson)
Ahsoka is a former Jedi who was assigned as Anakin Skywalker’s Padawan during the Clone Wars on orders from Yoda. She left the Jedi Order after being framed for the bombing of the Jedi Temple on Coruscant and put on trial. Despite being exonerated — with help from Anakin — she felt betrayed by the Jedi and ultimately walked away from them and her master before she could complete her training.
Although no longer an official Jedi, she joined the rebellion against the Galactic Empire and continued to fight with her signature dual lightsabers.
Dawson made her first live-action appearance as Ahsoka in the fifth episode of The Mandalorian’s second season, teaming up with Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) to liberate the city of Calodan from Morgan Elsbeth’s rule.
As this Ahsoka featurette confirms, the titular character took on the Mandalorian warrior Sabine Wren as her apprentice.
Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo)
Sabine is a skilled Mandalorian fighter with expert knowledge in handling weapons and explosives. She dropped out of the Imperial Academy when she realized she was helping the Empire oppress her people, then worked as a bounty hunter alongside Ketsu Onyo. She later joined the Ghost Crew, and her impressive graffiti work inspired the symbol for the Rebel Alliance.
She is set to make her live-action debut in Ahsoka.
Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth Winstead)
Hera is a Twi’lek general of the New Republic and an expert pilot who led the Ghost Crew alongside Jedi Knight Kanan Jarrus (who died in Star Wars Rebels Season 4, Episode 10). Their son Jacen Syndulla was born after Kanan’s death.
She is the captain of the freight ship Ghost and was among the first to join the official Rebel Alliance. A trusted friend and ally to Ahsoka, Hera will make her live-action debut in the upcoming series.
She owns the grumpy droid Chopper, who will also be featured in the show.
Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi)
Ezra is a young, Force-sensitive orphan who eventually joined the Ghost Crew. He received some lightsaber training from Ahsoka but was formally trained in the ways of the Force by Kanan.
In the Star Wars Rebels series finale, Ezra sacrificed himself by ensuring both he and Grand Admiral Thrawn remained aboard Thrawn’s Star Destroyer Chimaera as the space whales known as purrgil carried them into hyperspace. And while Ahsoka and Sabine set out to find Ezra shortly afterward, both he and Thrawn remain missing in action.
Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen)
Thrawn is the diabolical Grand Admiral of the Imperial Navy with impressive military prowess. His right-hand man, naval captain Gilad Pellaeon, appeared in The Mandalorian Season 2, Episode 7 as a member of the Shadow Council, a secret group of Imperial loyalists working to bring Thrawn back and take down the New Republic.
Thrawn’s disappearance in the Star Wars Rebels series finale is the driving force behind the antagonists featured in Ahsoka.
Morgan Elsbeth (Diana Lee Inosanto)
Morgan is a former leader of the Imperial Navy who serves her master, Grand Admiral Thrawn.
Portrayer Diana Lee Inosanto appeared as Morgan in The Mandalorian Season 2, Episode 5, in which she offered Din Djarin her spear made of Mandalorian steel in exchange for him killing Ahsoka. However, Din Djarin aligned with Ahsoka, and Morgan was arrested after refusing to give up Thrawn’s location.
Huyang (voiced by David Tennant)
This ancient and sassy architect droid — who debuted in Star Wars: The Clone Wars — has taught generations of Jedi younglings, including Yoda and Mace Windu, how to build their lightsabers.
Baylan Skoll (Ray Stevenson)
Baylan is a former Jedi Knight who survived Order 66 — the execution of all Jedi under Palpatine’s direction — and left the Jedi Order to become a mercenary.
In Ahsoka, he and his apprentice Shin Hati work under Morgan Elsbeth to locate Grand Admiral Thrawn, who went missing after being dragged into deep space by the purrgil.
Shin Hati (Ivanna Sakhno)
Shin is Baylan Skoll’s human apprentice. She, along with her master, work as mercenaries for Morgan Elsbeth to find the missing Grand Admiral Thrawn.
