“AGT: Fantasy League” continued on January 15 with the third set of 10 performances in “Qualifiers 3.” The new spin-off series marks the return of former judge Mel B as she joins Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel in a head-to-head competition to mentor an all star ‘AGT’ act through the season to victory. Terry Crews is back once again for hosting duties.

Over eight weeks of shows, the judges’ Dream Teams of 10 will be narrowed down until only one stands as the newest AGT champion and takes home the $250,000 cash prize. That act will also give their mentor the first coach’s win in AGT history. In the four qualifiers, 10 acts perform with one receiving the week’s Golden Buzzer and five others advancing to the next round based on an audience vote.

More from GoldDerby

In “Qualifiers 1” on January 1, Mel gave her Golden Buzzer to the roller skating siblings Billy and Emily England in a steal from Simon’s team to her’s, sending them straight through to “The Finals.” The five acts that advanced to the “Semi-Finals” from that qualifier were: V.Unbeatable, Shadow Ace, Kseniya Simonova, and Kristy Sellars from Team Howie and Kodi Lee from Team Simon.

In “Qualifiers 2” on January 8, Howie defied the pleas of Heidi and stole Ramadhani Brothers from her team with his Golden Buzzer. The fives acts that moved on to the “Semi-Finals” were: Vardanyan Brothers and Sheldon Riley from Team Mel, Grace Good from Team Heidi, Adrian Stoica & Hurricane from Team Simon, and Preacher Lawson from Team Howie.

Monday night’s third qualifier featured new performances from Chapel Hart, Loren Allred, and The Pack Drumline from Team Simon, Junior New System from Team Mel, Enkh-Erdene, Sofie Dossi, and Yu Hojin from Team Heidi, and Fritzy Rosmerian, Geneviève Côté and Ichikawa Koicuchi from Team Howie.

Below, read our minute-by-minute “AGT: Fantasy League” recap of episode 3 to find out what happened Monday, January 15 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT. Then be sure to sound off in the comments section about your favorite acts on NBC’s reality TV show and who you think will ultimately become the newest AGT champion.

8:03 p.m. – Starting off the night was Mel’s Dream Team with her only act of the night, the men-dancing-in-heels crew Junior New System. As a huge fan of what they do, Mel chose them as one of her first picks in the draft and advised them to do a remix of the music that they choose. Following their performance, Simon said that they’re the only dancing group he’s ever seen that does what they do. Heidi calls their tricks “insane” and Howie said “amazing.”

8:11 p.m. – Simon’s night began with the country music singing trio Chapel Hart who received a group Golden Buzzer and finished as finalists on season 17. They were surprised when Simon advised them to try their original song “American Pride” again after they had issues with it in “The Finals” of their original season. Amidst a standing ovation, Mel commented on their energy and the evidence of how badly they want to perform well. Howie applauded them for singing the same song again, calling it “an anthem.” Heidi referred to them as a fan favorite and one of her personal favorites as well. Simon said that their performance tonight “was about redemption” and they “nailed it.”

8:23 p.m. – The 15 year old mentalist Fritzy Rosmerian hit the American stage for the first time following her top 5 finish on “Indonesia’s Got Talent.” Howie chose her for his team because of her 40 million and growing fan base on social media. Howie thought her first performance was “fantastic” and Heidi admitted she was “confused at times, but we got there.” Mel added that her act was “a little bit small for this stage” and cautioned her to “think bigger.” Simon said that she didn’t have “the wow moment” that they’ve seen from other magic acts in the past. He challenged that Howie was not the right mentor.

8:35 p.m. – Simon brought his next team to the stage, the Pack Drumline that like Chapel Hart was certain that he was the right mentor for them to return to the competition with. The music troupe was first seen on “AGT” season 17 where they finished as semi-finalists and later were invited to join the Vegas show as a supporting act. Howie wound up agreeing with Simon that they are a group that can provide a “Super Bowl moment” with their act and thinks they did better than they’ve ever done before. Mel thought they “killed it” and Simon said that they are “fighters and stars” and could “surprise everyone and win this whole show.”

8:47 p.m. – Heidi’s Dream Team finally reached the stage with the “Mongolia’s Got Talent” champion singer Enkh-Erdene. She helped calm his nerves by giving him the confidence to show off his “star voice.” After the performance, Howie thought that he was lip syncing because how shocking it was that he was singing American country music so well. Simon countered Howie by saying that he’s singing the music he should be singing because he has great tone. Mel wished that he had an a cappella moment, which Simon seemed to agree with.

8:58 p.m. – Next up was the “contrition on steroids” (Mel’s words) artist Sofie Dossi representing Team Heidi. She was only 14 years old when she first appeared on “AGT” season 11 and was named a finalist. Tonight, as a 22 year old, she earned high praise from Howie who said that if he had the Golden Buzzer that he would have used it on her. Mel agreed, calling it “very well rehearsed and slick,” and Simon got emotional because of how much growth she’s had as an artist and for having the guts to come back after so much time. Heidi closed with stating that she didn’t want anything to screw up Sofie’s chances of advancing so in order to secure her place in “The Finals,” Heidi hit the Golden Buzzer to ensure that they moved on together.

9:09 p.m. – Ahead of noise maker Geneviève Côté’s performance, Howie said that on “Canada’s Got Talent” she was one of the acts in all his time on any of the shows that has excited him the most and that’s why he gave her a Golden Buzzer then. Simon called her “very interesting and incredible,” but in the context of a Vegas show he does not think that an audience would want to sit through a 2 hour version of her act. Mel was confused that it was unclear what animal noise she was making and suggested that Howie once again did not mentor his acts very well.

9:20 p.m. – Up next was Heidi’s magician from season 17 of “AGT” Yu Hojin that Simon originally said “no” to during his first audition before becoming a finalist. Simon had hoped that he’d be able to draft Yu, saying that he’s developed a cool persona that is “world class” enough for Vegas. Mel added that he’s “confident” and she loves that. Howie said he delivered “the best magic act” he’s seen “in the last five years.” Howie thought it was certain that Yu would be named one of the five acts to advance to the “Semi-Finals” because of that performance.

9:31 p.m. – Howie called Ichikawa Koicuchi “inspirational” and “motivational” ahead of their performance. He chose the “Britain’s Got Talent” semi-finalist because he became one of the most viral acts and believed that his act would “leave America in awe.” Mel was not impressed with Ichikawa’s fart tricks and so she hit her red X button close to the end of his act. Ichikawa asked Simon to join him on stage for the final trick, but he refused and insisted that Howie do it instead because he’s his mentor. Howie is convinced that Ichikawa can win with that act, but Mel refused to say anything other than “no.” She called his act “disgusting” and was confused that the other three were supportive of his chances to advance.

9:43 p.m. – The last act to perform was Team Simon’s Loren Allred, the singer from Brooklyn that earned a spot as a finalist on “Britain’s Got Talent” season 15. Simon advised her to sing a brand new version of “Never Enough” because it’s one of his favorite songs and he was “star struck” when he found out she was the vocalist on the original version from the film. Howie was amazed that “such great talent” was “not yet known” by the world. Heidi called them all lucky for getting to see her new version live and Mel was “at a loss for words.” Simon called it “honestly spectacular” and thinks it took her guts to come to America to put a face to the name of a song that they came to love.

9:54 p.m. – Once the audience votes were tallied, Terry announced that the five acts to advance to the “Semi-Finals” were Pack Drumline, Enkh-Erdene, Yu Hojin, Chapel Hart, and Loren Allred. The result means that of the acts already set to move on in the competition, Simon now has five, Mel B has three, Heidi has has four, and Howie has six.
