Angela Russo-Otstot has been promoted to chief creative officer at AGBO, the film and television studio co-founded by Anthony and Joe Russo.

Russo-Otstot, the company’s current president of creative, will continue to oversee development of all of AGBO’s projects. In her new role, she will expand her purview to physical production, marketing and story development and will still report to AGBO co-founder and vice chairman Mike Larocca.

“Angela has been a critical part of the success of AGBO over the past several years”, Larocca said. “She’s a creative force, a strong steward of our slate, and a true friend to the artists, filmmakers and collaborators that call AGBO home. We are thrilled about her new role at the company and have no doubt that, with Angela in a leadership position, AGBO will continue its incredible growth.”

After joining the company in 2017 as SVP of AGBO’s story department, Russo-Otstot collaborated on projects including “Everything Everywhere All At Once,” “Extraction,” and “Cherry,” which she co-wrote and executive produced. Upcoming productions include the Amazon thriller series “Citadel,” for which she writes and executive produces; Netflix’s “The Electric State”; “Butch and Sundance”; “The Bluff”; “Extraction 2,” and “Exit West” with the Obamas’ Higher Ground. She also executive produced the Ryan Gosling and Chris Hemsworth-starring film “The Gray Man.”

Separately, Russo-Otstot leads a team of executives who produce independent films through the company’s Gozie AGBO banner in an effort to underrepresented voices, through which she executive produced the Sundance film “Relic.” She also oversees the company’s filmmaker initiatives, including AGBO-sponsored film festivals and the AGBO Storytellers’ Collective.
