Not a lot is known about the highly anticipated upcoming Disney+ series Agatha: Coven of Chaos. However, a recent report from The Illuminerdi may have shed light on not only who is directing the project, but how many episodes the series will run for.
According to their latest report, Jac Schaeffer — the creator of the hit Disney+ series WandaVision — will helm at least one episode of the upcoming series, which isn’t too surprising considering the series is based on characters from WandaVision. The report mentions that Gandja Monteiro, a director who has most recently helmed two episodes of the Netflix series Wednesday but is perhaps best known for her work on the Showtime show The Chi, will direct at least one episode as well.
The report also mentions that the current plan for the series is to have it run for nine episodes, which would make it last as long as its predecessor WandaVision. As of now, it’s unclear how long the series’ episodes will run, but more information should be coming soon as the show continues to develop.
Agatha: Coven of Chaos (formerly titled House of Harkness) was officially announced during Disney Day 2021. It will feature the return of Hahn as she reprises her WandaVision role of Agatha Harkness, who was one of the Elizabeth Olsen-led series’ antagonists and the one who revealed Wanda’s true potential as the Scarlet Witch. For her fan-favorite performance, she earned an Emmy nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
The upcoming project hails from head writer Jac Schaeffer, who is also serving as an executive producer with Kevin Feige. It is confirmed to be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 5. Agatha: Coven of Chaos is expected to make its premiere in Winter 2023.
