Though long associated with the British, afternoon tea service will get an oh-so-French twist when Café Boulud at The Brazilian Court launches daily afternoon tea on Thursday.

Available daily from 3 to 5 p.m., the new afternoon tea will be offered in the restaurant’s dining room or in the hotel’s historic al fresco courtyard.

Guests will be treated to specialty teas, scones with Devonshire cream and preserves, and dainty tea sandwiches such as cucumber, smoked salmon and ham with gruyere.

Chief among the goodies will be French pastries — including Café Boulud’s well-known madeleines — by head pastry chef Julie Franceschini.

Franceschini has planned such sweets as opera cake, lemon curd-infused tarte au citron, panna cotta and French cookies with fresh raspberries.

Café Boulud’s afternoon tea experience is $48 per person. For an additional cost, guests can choose among a la carte options for sparkling wine or Champagne.

Meanwhile, the night before Café Boulud launches its new afternoon tea service, PB Catch will feature one of its periodic food-themed nights.

Paella Night on Wednesday will highlight Spain’s famed rice-based paella dish.

Chef Kevin Sawyer has planned a seafood paella ($42 per person) for Wednesday; the dish will be available starting at 5:30 p.m. PB Catch’s regular menus also will be offered.
