New AEW TNT Champion Crowned At AEW Full Gear

Samoa Joe is the new AEW TNT Champion.

At AEW Full Gear, Wardlow defended the title against Powerhouse Hobbs and Joe, his former WardJoe teammate. All three powerhouses went to war, and Wardlow was on the verge of victory when he powerbombed Hobbs. But Joe snuck into the ring and blasted Wardlow with the title. He then choked out Hobbs to win the title.

As a result, Joe is now the reigning TNT Champion and the ROH World Television Champion. For Wardlow, the loss ended his reign, which began on the July 6 episode of AEW Dynamite, where he beat Scorpio Sky to retain the gold.

Here’s how the match broke down, courtesy of our play-by-play coverage:

Wardlow dives off the top rope and takes both of his opponents down. He hits Hobbs with a Swanton Bomb. Joe rocks Hobbs with a running boot in the corner. Wardlow slams Hobbs and drops Joe with a spinebuster. Joe dives onto both of his opponents on the outside. Hobbs tackles Joe into the barricade. He gets a two count with a spinebuster on Wardlow. The champion powerbombs Hobbs multiple times. Joe sneaks in and hits Wardlow with the title. He then chokes out Hobbs for the win.
