AEW Dynamite Results (3/22/23): Kenny Omega vs. El Hijo Del Vikingo

All Elite Wrestling delivered a star-studded episode of AEW Dynamite on March 22.

Kenny Omega faced El Hijo del Vikingo in a buzzworthy bout. Plus, The Gunns defended the AEW World Tag Team Championship against Top Flight. Elsewhere on the show, Orange Cassidy, Darby Allin, and Sting faced The Butcher, The Blade, and Kip Sabian.

The results are as follows:

The Young Bucks were being loaded into ambulances into the aftermath of a mysterious attack. Hangman Page hopped into the ambulance so he could ride with them, but Kenny Omega stayed behind.

Orange Cassidy, Darby Allin, and Sting vs. The Butcher, The Blade, and Kip Sabian

Sabian and Cassidy start the bout and feel each other out. Sting and The Butcher tag in, and “The Icon” takes the fight to the big man. The Butcher drives Sting into the corner. The match breaks down as the participants brawl. The Butcher and The Blade suplex Sting. A distraction from Penelope Ford helps Sabian take control and ground Allin. Sabian and his team isolate the former TNT Champion, but Cassidy tags in and clears house. The Butcher and The Blade drop Cassidy with a double-team powerbomb/neckbreaker. Sting enters the match and borrows from Cassidy’s “kicks”. He fires up and brings the fight to Sabian and his partners. Allin hits a springboard Coffin Drop on Butcher and Blade. Cassidy dives onto Blade on the outside. Sabian is left by himself, and Sting gets the pin with the Scorpion Death Drop on Sabian.

Winners: Orange Cassidy, Darby Allin, and Sting

Cassidy gives Sting his sunglasses after the match. Allin stares at the Double or Nothing banner, clearly focused on his quest to earn a world title shot.

In taped promos, “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry. Sammy Guevara, and Darby Allin discuss their desire to win the world title. AEW World Champion MJF makes it clear that they’ll have to rack up wins to earn a shot at the gold.

AEW World Tag Team Championship: The Gunns (Austin & Colten Gunn) (c) def. Top Flight (Darius & Dante Martin)

Austin and Dante start the bout, and the fan-favorite takes Gunn down with an arm drag. Top Flight double-teams Austin and Colten. They send the champions out of the ring. Austin takes control, and and the champions take control. Colten suplexes Darius, and The Gunns isolate Dante. Darius makes the hot tag and swings the momentum in their favor. He hits a Spanish Fly for a two count. Darius dives onto Colten on the outside. Colten breaks up a pinfall after a springboard. The Kingdom (Mike Bennett & Matt Taven) interfere and attack Top Flight. The Gunnns hit 3:10 to Yuma for the win.

FTR come to the ring after the match. Colten says no one wants to see them. Wheeler says they’re there to talk business. Colten says FTR are losers, and they lost three sets of titles. Austin says there’s nothing they can offer them to get a shot at the title. Wheeler says they will never challenge for the tag titles or team up in AEW again if they lose. Austin still turns them down. Harwood says that if they lost, they’ll quit AEW. The Gunns agree to the stakes and take a cheap shot at FTR before they exit the ring.

In an interview, Mark Sterling and Jade Cargill reveal that they have a cease and desist for Taya Valkyrie that prohibits her from using Jade’s finisher. Leila Grey offers to give the paperwork to Valkyrie herself on AEW Rampage.

No Disqualification Match: HOOK vs. Stokely Hathaway

Before the match can start, Hathaway says he is not cleared to compete, and he has decided to retire. Hathaway gives his “doctor’s note” to Justin Roberts, who reveals that it’s a receipt for Wing Stop. The bell rings, and Hathaway runs into the crowd. HOOK runs into the crowd and beats Hathaway up. He sends him back over the barricade and suplexes Hathaway. HOOK brings a steel barricade into the ring. Hathaway sprays HOOK with a fire extinguisher. He gets a chair and goes to hit HOOK, who reverses and batters Stokely with a chari. HOOK suplexes Hathaway onto the steel and locks in the Redrum for the win.

Winner: HOOK

Backstage, Matt Hardy seemingly encourages Ethan Page to take on HOOK.

In-Ring Segment: Adam Cole

Cole discusses his looming return to the ring and made it clear that he is ready to return to the ring. He says the biggest question centers around who he’s going to face. Daniel Garcia interrupts and says he has become a real veteran during Cole’s time away. He calls himself a locker room leader and says he’s there to put Cole in his place. Garcia cites some of the noteworthy names he has defeated, and he says he has proven that he is one of the best pro wrestlers on the planet. Garcia catches himself and says “sports entertainer”, rather than wrestler. Cole says what he can do in the ring makes him special. Cole praises Garcia and says the problem is the company he keeps. He says he’s still Adam Cole, even though he hasn’t wrestled in months. Cole says that if Garcia wants to challenge him, he accepts. Cole vows to make a statement and says he hopes Garcia knows what he’s in for.

Backstage, Kenny Omega is upset about the Young Bucks getting attacked. He says he should have gone with them. Don Callis says it might have been the best thing that could have happened to them, as now they can focus. Callis says the “god of pro wrestling” is back.

Jon Moxley vs. Stu Grayson

Moxley and Grayson trade blows. The former world champion gains the upper hand. Grayson fights back and sends Moxley to the outside. He gets Moxley back in the ring and drops him with a hurricanrana. Moxley sends Grayson crashing into the barricade. He continues to control the action. Grayson rallies and slams Moxley. He gets a two count after a springboard dive. Grayson dives onto Wheeler Yuta and Claudio Castagnoli at ringside. Moxley dives onto Grayson, who fires back with a strike and hits a 450 Splash for a two count. Moxley counters the Nightfall and locks in a bulldog choke. He drills Grayson with knees to the head. Grayson escapes by slamming Moxley into the corner. Moxley gets the win with an avalanche Death Rider.

Winner: Jon Moxley

In an interview, Ricky Starks says he’s tired of talking, and he challenges Juice Robinson to come find him on AEW Rampage. He issues an open challenge to Robinson and says he doesn’t care if he accepts it.
