Aeterna Zentaris jumps on FDA approval, Honda bets on solid-state battery, Rolling Stone is sold

Investors are getting a healthy dose of Aeterna Zentaris (AEZS) today. The biopharma company is up big after the FDA approved its hormone deficiency treatment. The new drug, Macrilen, stimulates growth hormones in adults.

Honda (HMC) is looking at creating all solid-state batteries for its electric cars. Solid-state batteries last longer, hold longer charges, and are safer compared to conventional lithium ion. The move comes as automakers work to meet tighter global emissions regulations.

Rolling Stone is under new leadership. Penske Media is buying a controlling stake in Rolling Stone’s parent company Wenner Media for roughly $50 million. Despite dwindling magazine sales, Penske’s CEO believes he can unlock value in the iconic brand. Jann Wenner, who co-founded Rolling Stone, will stay on as editorial director.

China’s Didi Chuxing is ready to take on rival Uber. The ride-hailing giant raised over $4 billion for international expansion, artificial intelligence and new business initiatives. Earlier this month, Reuters reported Didi was launching in Mexico and Didi itself said it was looking to expand to Taiwan. Uber gave up on opening shop in China in August, and instead took a minority stake in Didi.
