Aerosmith Push Farewell Tour to 2024 as Steven Tyler’s Vocal Injury ‘More Serious Than Initially Thought’

Aerosmith have decided to push all their upcoming “Peace Out” farewell tour dates to 2024 after learning that Steven Tyler’s vocal injury is “more serious than initially thought.”
In a statement shared on Facebook, the band said Tyler’s doctor “confirmed that in addition to the damage to his vocal cords, he fractured his larynx which requires ongoing care. He is receiving the best medical treatment available to ensure his recovery is swift, but given the nature of a fracture, he is being told patience is essential.”

Tyler’s vocal injury forced Aerosmith off the road earlier this month, just a few dates into the Peace Out tour. The band originally rescheduled a run of September shows for early 2024 in the hopes of returning to the stage by Oct. 11.
At the moment, it’s unclear when Aerosmith will aim to relaunch the tour in 2024. The band said new dates will be “announced as soon as we know more.” All previously purchased tickets will be honored at the new concerts, and refunds will also be available to those who can’t attend the new dates.
Tyler also issued a note of his own, saying, “I am heartbroken to not be out there with Aerosmith, my brothers, and the incredible Black Crowes, rocking with the best fans in the world. I promise we will be back as soon as we can!”
Aerosmith announced their final tour earlier this year, though they noted at the time that drummer Joey Kramer would not join them. “While Joey Kramer remains a beloved founding member of Aerosmith, he has regrettably made the decision to sit out the currently scheduled touring dates to focus his full attention on his family and health,” the band said in a statement. “Joey’s unmistakable and legendary presence behind the drum kit will be sorely missed.” (Kramer took a “temporary leave of absence” during their 2022 Las Vegas residency).
Amidst the farewell tour, Tyler is also facing a lawsuit in which he is accused of sexually assaulting a minor in the mid-1970s. The suit, filed by Julia Mosley, alleges that Tyler convinced her mother to grant him guardianship over her when she was 16, which allowed her to live with him and engage in a sexual relationship. The suit referenced Tyler’s memoirs in which the singer recalled that he “almost took a teen bride” and that her parents “signed a paper over for me to have custody, so I wouldn’t get arrested if I took her out of state. I took her on tour with me.” Tyler has denied the claims.
