‘Adventure Time: Islands’ Recap: Humans Trapped in a Virtual Reality

In Part 4 of Adventure Time: Islands, Finn and Jake were on the search for BMO. While hitching a ride on the local parrot, they spotted a strange new island. After landing, they found strange domes with pods on them, and Jake wondered if they were the coffins of the future, asking, “Is this whole place a fancy human graveyard?!?”

It turned out BMO was wearing VR glasses and experiencing “Better Reality: Where Reality Doesn’t Stink.” Finn and Jake decided to give it a shot and found it “objectively interesting.”

BMO was having the time of their life in this virtual reality, and it was tough to convince them to leave, because they were a beautiful, well-admired man, and they asked the question of what is real, pointing out that your sky might be blue but another’s sky might be black.

It turned out that inside the pods they had seen were humans experiencing Better Reality, and when Jake pulled the plug, the humans were not happy about it.

After the humans came after them like zombies, they decided to let them have their imaginary world, restoring the wrecked pods and putting them back to bed.

With BMO back in the gang, they were off to find Susan Strong.

Adventure Time: Islands airs Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday this week at 4:30 p.m. on Cartoon Network.
