Ahead of the release of Bright Future later this week, Big Thief’s Adrianne Lenker is back with another new song, “Free Treasure.”
The latest single from Bright Future (itself due on March 22nd), “Free Treasure” places Lenker’s signature poeticism in a sparse arrangement. Gentle acoustics carry the progression as Lenker harmonizes with Mat Davidson overtop, their voices coming together for a rich warm sound, delivering the refrain “Understanding, patience and pleasure/ Time and attention, love without measure.” Stream the song below.
“Free Treasure” follows previous Bright Future singles “Ruined,” “Sadness As a Gift,” and “Fool.” The new album is Lenker’s sixth solo release, and features production by frequent collaborator Philip Weinrobe. Pre-orders are ongoing.

Last week, Lenker shared i won’t let go of your hand, a six-song EP released via Bandcamp raising funds for the Palestinian Children’s Relief Fund. In a statement on Instagram, Lenker wrote: “I can’t express how sad and angry I am about this ongoing violence towards Palestinians. The killing must stop. The need for a ceasefire is beyond urgent. Permanent Ceasefire Now!”
