Amid ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin and HYBE’s ongoing feud, NewJeans’ music label has released a new statement. ADOR clarified its stance regarding claims of a management takeover and Min Hee Jin’s ‘shaman’ connection.

HYBE has numerous sub-labels working under the music conglomerate, including Pledis Entertainment, Source Music, ADOR, Belift Lab, and KOZ Entertainment. While the multi-label system has worked for HYBE since its foundation, Min Hee Jin claimed that the management head of BTS “lacks understanding.” She said on April 16, “HYBE is unprepared, lacks understanding, and has the wrong attitude toward a multi-label system.”

ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin explains ‘Shaman’ is just a ‘friend’

The conflict between HYBE and ADOR has taken a significant turn. HYBE has alleged that ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin tried to “take over” management rights of NewJeans‘ label. Meanwhile, she insisted that her conversations were “taken” out of context.

After Min Hee Jin’s press conference and HYBE’s statement, ADOR released another response on May 2. The statement refutes certain accusations including Min Hee Jin’s ‘shaman’ connection and if that influenced her business strategies.

ADOR said in the latest statement, “NewJeans’s success and ADOR’s remarkable achievements made in a short period of time are based on rational business decisions. These claims are part of HYBE’s framing to undermine and deny ADOR’s success…ADOR’s revenue and operating profit stem from preventing unnecessary expenses, efficiently managing the budget, and striving to enhance the brand image. If what they claim is possible, why would Min Hee Jin and ADOR’s staff members work tirelessly day and night?”

Moreover, ADOR’s statement insisted on the angle of defamation. For this, she referred to the incident of Shaman, who is just a friend of Min Hee Jin. ADOR noted, “It is regrettable that HYBE, which should be a leader of K-pop, attempted to frame with personal defamation unrelated to the issue and not even worth responding to, especially announcing it just before Min Hee Jin’s press conference.”

HYBE previously announced their plans of taking appropriate action against Min Hee Jin. On the other hand, ADOR’s statement reiterates HYBE’s “evidences” to be “baseless.” The statement reads, “HYBE’s claim of a ‘management rights takeover’ is baseless. The evidence they provided was not intended for a takeover but emerged from ongoing conflicts with HYBE based on ‘imagination.’ We reiterate that there was no specific plan or execution related to this.”

ADOR has also highlighted the issue of NewJeans’ debut versus Le Sserafim’s debut. They claimed that the former did not get enough promotion. ADOR alleged, “HYBE had publicly declared NewJeans as Min Hee Jin’s girl group and HYBE’s first girl group since the “Plus Global Audition.” They assert that parents of New Jeans’ members and the employees of the company were well aware of it.

However, after Sakura and Kim Chaewon joined HYBE, the company decided to make LE SSERAFIM “HYBE’s first girl group.” In other words, they did not keep their word. The statement insists, “HYBE is not hesitating to make false claims.”

Meanwhile, HYBE and ADOR’s current dispute also reached Seoul Western District Court, where attorneys from both sides were present. As per ADOR’s attorneys, “the board of directors will convene by May 10, with the shareholders’ meeting expected to follow by the end of May.” They further noted that any update regarding their legal proceedings would be made to the court by May 13.
