The alliance, touted as the first of its kind, plans to produce original TV, web and feature content by nurturing the works of filmmakers under 18. The goal is to provide young people of “extraordinary” ability the resources to make state-of-the-art quality film, TV and web content aimed at an audience of their peers.
Adolescent Content was formed in 2014 by Creative Director Ramaa Mosley and Executive Producer Hope Farley. It recently launched AdolescentTV on YouTube and digital platform www.adolescent.net in addition to producing original web series.
“We will see the next Steven Spielbergs and Lena Dunhams break out of this pack, there is a palpable excitement I haven’t seen on the scene, in years,” Mosley said. “Each shows production value just keeps getting higher, and the youth based audience is plugged into it, not only entertained by it, but inspired by it.”
Mosley noted that she directed her first film at 16 and was hired professionally at 19. “I’ve mentored many young directors since, and the talent I work alongside, is absolutely remarkable,” she added.
Genres of projects in the works include comedy, science fiction, unconventional romance and thrillers.
“Creators are younger and younger, with access to professional grade tools, and the skills to create incredible content,” Mosley said. “Joining forces with Lotus takes us next-level, allowing us to produce these amazing shows and reach far and wide, to companies seeking fresh youth content. It’s an exciting new generation coming up fast, and we are riding that wave, shining the spotlight alongside creating opportunities for them.”
Lotus recently wrapped production with Keanu Reeves vehicle “Replicas.” Upcoming films include Halle Berry’s “Kipnap” and “November Criminals” with Ansel Elgort and Chloe Moretz starring and Sasha Gervase directing.
Lotus co-founders Bill Johnson and Jim Seibel said the dedication of Mosley and Farley to young filmmakers is “100% inspirational.”
“We’ve followed Ramaa and Hope professionally for years and now is the right moment to step in and cement Adolescent as the go-to destination for young Hollywood content creators,” Johnson and Seibel said. “This partnership allows, for the first time, youth to connect with growth opportunities in all sectors, from indie, studios and the major brands alike. In the industry it is a first, and in culture-at-large, it signals a real change in youth-empowerment and role models for future generations.”
The film, television and web series content in development fall into a range of diverse genres: comedy, science fiction, unconventional romance and cutting edge thrillers, and Mosley has an eye on the talent, “We will see the next Steven Spielbergs and Lena Dunhams break out of this pack, there is a palpable excitement I haven’t seen on the scene, in years. Each shows production value just keeps getting higher, and the youth based audience is plugged into it, not only entertained by it, but… inspired by it.” What is crystal clear is that never before has there been such high quality content, created by such young filmmakers, for a market of their peers, nurtured and supported at such a high industry level, as what we will see produced by this partnership and management deal between Lotus Entertainment and Adolescent Content.
Lenny Beckerman of Lotus Entertainment will be overseeing the day to day operations, in partnership with Mosley of Adolescent Content.
