Aditi Rao Hydari in Rockstar: Heeramandi Actor on Working With Ranbir Kapoor

Aditi Rao Hydari recently shared her insights on working with some of the industry’s top talents. In a candid interview with Humans of Bombay, she spoke about Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Ranbir Kapoor, and Ranveer Singh. Hydari’s last appearance was in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Netflix series Heeramandi as Bibbojaan.

Aditi, who previously starred in Bhansali’s Padmavat, admired the legendary filmmaker’s unique and passionate approach to cinema. She said, “I love Sanjay, sir. I just love working with him. He creates this incredible atmosphere for us, and he loves his actors and characters.”

She continued, “Everything he does comes from love and extreme passion. It’s very inspiring and amazing to see. Everybody talks about how he challenges his actors, but he challenges himself the most—to find that magic, to keep creating, to find something almost ephemeral. It’s an experience.”

Reflecting on her experience with Ranbir Kapoor, Aditi was equally expressive. She recalled their time working together on the critically acclaimed film Rockstar. Aditi speaks about the time when she saw firsthand the dedication and talent Ranbir brings to his roles. “But working with Ranbir was mad. He’s incredible, so incredible,” Aditi said, emphasizing his impact on her. “He’s one of my favorite actors, and he’s so present. He can convince you of anything.”

Aditi also recounted a memorable moment from the set of Padmavat, where she shared a scene with Ranveer Singh, another actor she holds in high regard. She described the surreal transition from completing a love story with director Mani Ratnam to stepping into Bhansali’s elaborate and mesmerizing world just days later.

“Ranveer looked at me and said, ‘Adu, you know that you’re living the dream, right?’ He was shaking me, and I realized, ‘You’re right, you’re right.’ It was really, really incredible,” she recalled.

In Heeramandi, Aditi continues to showcase her versatility and depth as an actor. The series, streaming on Netflix, has been met with critical acclaim, further solidifying Aditi’s position as a formidable talent in Bollywood.
