Adele and Husband Simon Konecki Breakup: All the Signs They Were Heading for a Split

Adele and her husband Simon Konecki have separated, and although the pair kept their relationship incredibly private over the years, news of their split didn’t come completely out of the blue.

“Adele and her partner have separated,” the singer’s representative Benny Tarantini and Carl Fysh said in a statement to the Associated Press on Friday, adding that the former couple is “committed to raising their son together lovingly.”

The 30-year-old “Hello” singer and entrepreneur-philanthropist Konecki, 44, welcomed son Angelo on Oct. 19, 2012.

Here are all the signs the pair were headed for a split.

She’s Been Spotted Out Without Him Numerous Times Over the Past Few Months

Since last June, Adele has frequently been spotted out and about without Konecki, attending concerts and spending time with her pals.

In June 2018, she joined Taylor Swift backstage during her Reputation stadium tour, and several months later she surprised Drake by giving one of his Los Angeles concerts a rave review, praising his performance as one of her all-time “favorite shows.”

“Oii Champagne Papi blew my mind tonight!” she wrote on Twitter, using Drake’s longtime Instagram handle. “Best production I’ve ever seen hands down and way up there with one of my favorite shows of all time.

“Huge love,” she concluded, adding a heart emoji.

Cryptic Messages?

Earlier this year, Adele also attended one of Robyn’s concerts in Los Angeles, and posted a video of herself singing along to the Swedish star’s 2010 hit “Dancing On My Own.”

“Robyn tonight at the palladium … I’ve never danced so much,” she wrote on Instagram in February, captioning the video with a fire and heart emoji.

The melancholy dance hit, which is about having to dance solo because the object of your affection has moved on, also features the lyrics, “There’s a big black sky over my town/ I know where you’re at, I bet she’s around.”

The following month, Adele hit the town in New York City with pal Jennifer Lawrence, as the two surprised fans at a gay bar.

In one video that shows the pair partying with the crowd, Adele and Lawrence take part in a drinking game in front of the crowd, as Lawrence yells to her friend, “How could you lose?!”

Adele then said, “She’s f—ing engaged — you’re not even relevant to be here!”

“That has nothing to do with my drinking abilities,” Lawrence — who got engaged to fiancé Cooke Maroney in February — screamed in response, to cheers from the crowd.

At one point, the “Hello” singer even got up on stage, introducing herself as “a stay-at-home mom,” but made no mention of Konecki.

Spotted Without Her Wedding Ring

Just days after enjoying the fun night out with Lawrence, the British songstress was photographed heading into a recording studio in New York City, leaving fans abuzz as to whether the singer could be releasing a new album this year.

Adele wore an all-black outfit that included a long black hooded jacket, black leggings and black sneakers, accessorizing her incognito outfit with large sunglasses.

Tellingly, the singer — who has not released an album since 2015’s 25 — did not have her wedding ring on during the outing.

They Haven’t Been Seen Together In Months

Adele and Konecki were last photographed together in January, while attending Elton John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road in Los Angeles.

The singer wore a colorful outfit and slicked her hair back into a polished bun for the outing, as seen in photos obtained by E! News.

Konecki got divorced from his stylist ex-wife in 2008. Then three years later, Konecki and Adele met in 2011, and she first addressed their relationship in a since-deleted post on her blog around Jan. 2012.

That June, she announced on her blog that the pair were expecting a child together.

Adele and Konecki have lived a quiet life, spending time between her native London and Beverly Hills, where they bought a home in 2016.

“The reason her relationship works with Simon is because they are on the same page,” a source told PEOPLE at the time. “Their priority is their son, and Adele loves being a mother. Angelo is a very happy little boy.”

One romantic gesture from Konecki got an unusual bit of publicity in October 2016. Typically, Adele’s concerts end with attendees being showered with confetti printed with lyrics from her ballads “Rolling in the Deep and “When We Were Young,” but in honor of the pair’s fifth anniversary, Konecki somehow managed to slip in pink confetti adorned with handwritten love notes.

Adele’s reticence to discuss the relationship continued for quite some time until she talked to Vanity Fair for their December 2016 cover story, telling the publication: “All of my relationships are more important to me than any tour I’ll ever do. If my relationship with Simon or my relationship with Angelo started to flounder a bit now, I would pull out of my tour.”

In January 2017, Adele sparked rumors she and Konecki had married when she was photographed with a band on her left ring finger.

The singer went on to hint at their marriage the following month at the Grammys as she accepted the album of the year award for her smash album 25: “Grammys, I appreciate it, the Academy, I love you, my manager, my husband and my son — you’re the only reason I do it.”

She finally confirmed they had wed at a March 2017 concert in Brisbane, where she told the audience: “I’m married now.”
