Adele Cried ‘Pretty Much All Day’ Following Botched Grammys Performance

On Ellen Thursday, Adele stopped by to discuss her recent performance at the Grammy Awards. During the show, her song “All I Ask” was riddled with various technical difficulties. Although she took to Twitter to explain what went wrong during the production, Adele elaborated on the issues with DeGeneres. “I knew what it was because in rehearsal on the Saturday, they were like ‘We’re going to double mic the piano just in case one of them doesn’t work,’” recalled the singer-songwriter. “And I knew where the mic was, and I wanted to turn around and lift it up, but I froze.”

Despite an outpouring of support, Adele was so overcome with emotion that she was brought to tears in the days following the Grammys. “I cried pretty much all day yesterday,” said Adele. “I kept, like, spontaneously bursting into tears yesterday for no reason.” The nature of the live telecast prevented Adele from mitigating the sound issues, something she says won’t happen in the future. Adele did get a chance at redemption, however, performing “All I Ask” to those in attendance of Ellen.
