For the last 13 years, Adam Wainwright has made his name as a top tier pitcher in Major League Baseball. Now, the St. Louis Cardinals right-hander is using that name and his surprisingly strong musical talents to help support three St. Louis charities.

On Friday, Jan. 12, Wainwright and Big League Impact will be hosting their second annual Sing-Off and Karaoke Challenge at Dave and Buster’s in Maryland Heights, MO. And to promote the event, Wainwright busted out his guitar to give us a sampling of Luke Bryan’s hit “Rain is a Good Thing.”

That’s not bad at all. Wainwright might not have a Grammy in his future, but this karaoke event seems to be right in his wheelhouse.

Some people might remember that Wainwright set the tone for this event last year by singing Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off” in the shower.

Like last year, St. Louis area residents are being encouraged to take part in the singing challenge by sending their audition video to: @bigleagueimpact on Twitter and Facebook. Wainwright and his team at Big League Impact will then pick the 10 best contestants to compete for the $1,000 grand prize.

Tickets for the event will be available for purchase as well. Full details on the event, including how you can win a chance to sing a duet with Wainwright, can be found at eventbrite.com.

Last year’s event raised nearly $50,000 for the selected charities. Here’s hoping this year’s event will be even better.
