Adam Scott Awkwardly Serenades Maya Rudolph with Rendition of 'A Whole New World' in “Loot” Sneak Peek (Exclusive)

In PEOPLE's exclusive look at 'Loot', Scott's character Josh pulls out all the stops to surprise Rudolph's Molly for her birthday — but she doesn't appear to be amused

Adam Scott is making his feelings known — but Maya Rudolph isn't reciprocating.

In PEOPLE's exclusive look at Loot's upcoming episode, Molly Wells (Rudolph) arrives at The Wells Foundation headquarters to find her office filled with dozens of flowers and candles. As her colleagues surround her, she pulls out a remote from a gift box that says "open me."

"What the f--- is this?" Molly asks her team.

Upon activating the item, a hologram of Molly's ex-husband John Novak (Scott) — whom she hooked with during the Apple TV+ comedy's season 1 finale, despite his previous affair with his much younger assistant — wishes his "beautiful" former spouse a happy birthday.

"Oh, for f---'s sake. What an a--hole!" says Molly as her assistant, Nicholas (Joel Kim Booster) appears to be baffled by the awkward gesture, placing his hands into his face.

"I know, I wish I could be there with you two," Josh's hologram continues. "But, as you know, I am in training for my upcoming trip to space."

Recalling the former couple's "first time" celebrating Molly's birthday, Josh's hologram notes that they "drank too much soju" and "did karaoke all night." He also mentions that the pair "sang a certain little song," which the hologram was prepared to sing.

Josh then pulls out a microphone and busts out singing "A Whole New World" from Disney's Aladdin. But the billionaire tech mogul's rendition doesn't spark a positive reaction from Molly — or her colleagues, all of whom stare on in confusion as Josh's painstaking effort continues.

"Oh, my God," says Molly. "It's still going on."
