Jan. 31 (UPI) -- Adam Sandler has been named The People's Icon for 2024. Sandler will receive the award at the People's Choice Awards on Feb. 18 at 8 p.m. EST, NBC, Peacock and E! Announced Wednesday.

Sandler was a cast member on Saturday Night Live from 1990 to 1995, where he developed original characters like Opera Man, Cajun Man and Canteen Boy. 1995 saw the release of his first comedy movie vehicle, Billy Madison.

The award will recognize Sandler's career from Billy, Happy Gilmore, The Wedding Singer and The Waterboy to more recent hits like You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah. The award also recognizes Sandler's dramatic work in films like Uncut Gems, Hustle and the upcoming Spaceman.

Simu Liu hosts the People's Choice Awards, live from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif. Lenny Kravitz will receive the Music Icon Award at the show.
