Sad news hit Hollywood this weekend, as a rising star in the entertainment industry passed away unexpectedly. Among the celebrities reacting to the tragic loss, Adam Sandler paid tribute to his late co-star Cameron Boyce in a social media post that is breaking fans’ hearts. The two had shared the screen in 2010’s Grown Ups and the sequel, 2013’s Grown Ups 2, in both of which Boyce played Keith Feder, the son of Sandler’s character, Lenny Feder. Sandler also made a cameo in Boyce’s Disney Channel series Jessie.

TMZ first reported the news of Boyce’s death, explaining that paramedics were called to Boyce’s home when he was found unresponsive in bed. Upon hearing the news of Boyce’s death, a clearly emotional Sandler took to social media to share his heartfelt sadness over the tragic loss. “Too young. Too sweet. Too funny. Just the nicest, most talented, and most decent kid around. Loved that kid,” Sandler wrote, continuing, “Cared so much about his family. Cared so much about the world. Thank you, Cameron, for all you gave to us. So much more was on the way. All our hearts are broken. Thinking of your amazing family and sending our deepest condolences.”

Sandler wasn’t the only one who’d worked with Boyce to honor the memory of the talented young star. Bryce’s Descendants director — the third installment of which Boyce had only recently finished filming — wrote on Instagram of Boyce’s death, “You left a big piece of your heart for those of us who knew and loved you in this life and you left with a big piece of our hearts today.”

Charles Esten, who co-starred with Boyce in Jessie, tweeted, “My family and I are devastated today, by the loss of our young and amazing friend, Cameron Boyce. Years before I was blessed to play his father on Jessie, we were blessed to know him and his wonderful family at the elementary school our kids all attended together. It was there we were introduced to his endless talent, kindness, and joy for living. At his very 1st talent show, little Cameron’s dancing lit up the stage, and left everyone on their feet, cheering. It was clear to all that he was destined to be the star he would soon become.”

In a statement released to ABC News, Boyce’s family said, “It is with a profoundly heavy heart that we report this morning we lost Cameron. He passed away in his sleep due to a seizure which was a result of an ongoing medical condition for which he was being treated. The world is now undoubtedly without one of its brightest lights, but his spirit will live on through the kindness and compassion of all who knew and loved him. We are utterly heartbroken and ask for privacy during this immensely difficult time as we grieve the loss of our precious son and brother.”

Bryce was slated to appear onscreen next in the HBO series Mrs. Fletcher. Our thoughts and condolences go out to his loved ones during this difficult time.
