Hilary Duff posted a picture on set with Adam Lamberg on Instagram. "[It] feels so basic saying something that’s been shouted at me almost my whole life buuuut......hey now, hey now," Duff captioned the photo, referencing the song. Fans were quick to comment and show their excitement for Adam Lamberg's return to the franchise.

"Hey, I know that guy!" Thomas wrote.

"We're not crying you are," Disney+ said.

"Gordo represents the 'nerdy guy just wanting a chance' in all of us!" someone else said.

Hilary Duff was likely the most excited for Gordo's return. "Gordo was an essential piece of the puzzle to what made the original Lizzie McGuire so authentic and beloved," Duff said. "I couldn’t imagine the series without him. I can’t wait for fans to see what he’s up to 15 years later and how he fits into Lizzie’s adult world."

Hilary Duff is also excited for the reboot overall. “She [Lizzie]’s such a big part of me and my life, and now she’s 30, and I feel like I’m going to have to learn some of her quirky faces again. But I’m excited!” She told Entertainment Tonight.

"[it will be]fun to find the new version of [Lizzie]," and that she's "a little less frantic and a little more confident."

Disney+ also announced that Hallie Todd, Robert Carradine, and Jake Thomas will return.

She's not the only one. “We are incredibly excited to bring back one of the most popular Disney Channel series of all time along with some beloved and familiar faces,” said Ricky Strauss, Disney+ president, content & marketing, in a statement. “With Terri at the helm and Hilary, Hallie, Robert, and Jake back after all these years, it’s our honor to welcome the McGuire family into the Disney+ family.”

Disney+ isn't sure of when the series will be released but provides this description: "The new story picks up as Lizzie McGuire is just about to turn 30. She seemingly has it all—her dream job as an assistant to a fancy New York City decorator, her dream guy, and a picturesque Brooklyn apartment—but things aren't always as they seem. With a little help from her friends, her loving family and her 13-year-old alter-ego in animated form, Lizzie navigates the ups and downs of adulthood."
