Adam Devine Says Costar Liam Hemsworth Is in a 'Lot of Pain' as He Recovers From Kidney Stones
Liam Hemsworth is on the mend — but not without a little ribbing from his colleagues.
The 29-year-old actor skipped the Monday premiere of his new Rebel Wilson-led romantic comedy Isn’t It Romantic, after being hospitalized over the weekend for kidney stones.
Speaking to PEOPLE at the Los Angeles event, costar Adam Devine said that the two have been texting back and forth, joking he has sent Hemsworth “a lot of inappropriate texts” about his condition.
“Poor guy. I know he’s in a lot of pain and it really sucks what he’s going through, ’cause I know that he would want to be here and he’s a really fun guy to have around, so I’m really bummed about it,” said Devine, 35.
Hemsworth — who also skipped out on the Grammys, Sunday — had his new wife Miley Cyrus attend the premiere on his behalf while he stayed home to recover from the kidney stones, PEOPLE previously confirmed.
A source close to the star told PEOPLE that although Hemsworth “was briefly hospitalized,” he is now “at home resting and will be fine.”

After she walked the carpet solo in a red Maison Valentino dress, the actress and singer explained on her social media accounts that her husband was not in attendance because it was “crucial” that he was focused on his health.
“So proud of my hunky hubby @liamhemsworth & his newest movie #IsntItRomantic ??” she wrote. “He unfortunately wasn’t able to attend due to health reasons … but he is recovering and taking this time to rest / heal.”
In a separate Instagram post, Cyrus, who was posed in front of a photo featuring Hemsworth playing saxophone, left a flirty message for her new husband.
“Getting sick blows. But so do I. Get well soon babe. I love you,” she wrote. “Play that sax you sexy f—. ??]]>💋💋💋💋💋
