Actor Michael J. Pollard, known for 'Bonnie and Clyde,' 'House of 1000 Corpses' dead at 80
Actor Michael J. Pollard, known for his performance in "Bonnie and Clyde" in 1967 which earned him an Oscar nomination, is dead at age 80.
Rob Zombie, director of "House of 1000 Corpses," confirmed Pollard's death on Facebook on Friday. He posted a photo and mourned the loss of his friend.
Pollard and Zombie worked together on the 2003 cult-horror film with Sid Haig, who died in September, also at the age of 80.
"We have lost another member of our HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES family," Zombie wrote. Zombie said he woke up to the news that Pollard had passed away.
The Washington Post reported that Pollard passed away in a Los Angeles hospital on Nov. 20, after suffering from cardiac arrest.
Pollard, born in Passaic, New Jersey, in 1939, trained with Marilyn Monroe in New York at Actors Studio workshop. He had several small roles in shows including the original "Star Trek" series and "Lost in Space" before his breakout role.
It was his performance as C.W. Moss, in "Bonnie and Clyde," that took him into the spotlight. He portrayed the get-away driver and was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.

Zombie posted more photos on Instagram in Pollard's memory.
"I have been a huge fan of Micheal since I first saw him on the Star Trek "Miri" episode. He was amazing in everything from Bonnie and Clyde to Little Fauss and Big Halsy from Dirty Little Billy to The Four of the Apocalypse," Zombie wrote in the caption.

Pollard is survived by daughter he shared with his first wife, the late actress Beth Howland, and a son from his second marriage to Annie Tolstoy, according to the Washington Post.
