Actor Adan Canto, a Clear Lake resident known for 'The Cleaning Lady,' died at 42

Adan Canto, an actor known for roles in “Designated Survivor” and “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” died on Jan. 8.

Canto died at age 42 after a battle with appendiceal cancer. He had opted to keep the diagnosis private, according to the Associated Press.

“A man who never once complained and inspired so many,” read an Instagram post on Canto’s account from one week ago. “We love you forever Adan.”

Canto, born in Ciudad Acuña, Coahuila, Mexico, moved to Clear Lake to be close to his wife’s family shortly after becoming a father, according to his obituary published by Clear Lake funeral home Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel.

Canto portrayed Aaron Shore on the ABC political thriller “Designated Survivor,” starred in Halle Berry’s directorial debut film “Bruised” about an MMA fighter and her son, and as mobster Arman Morales in “The Cleaning Lady” on Fox.

“Designated Survivor” co-star Kiefer Sutherland took to Instagram to mourn Canto.

“It seems lately I have had to make too many posts like this one, but I am heartbroken by the loss of Adan Canto," Sutherland wrote. "He was such a wonderful spirit. As an actor his desire to do well, to be great, and then do better, was truly impressive and he will be greatly missed. I am also heartbroken for his wife, Steph and his two young children. Adan, may you rest in peace.”

Berry shared on her Instagram, “I don’t have the words just yet…but my dear sweet friend Adan just gained his wings. Forever, forever in my heart.”

Canto is survived by his wife, Stephanie Ann Canto, and their two children.
