Action Comics #1065 Sees Superman Commit the Ultimate Biker Sin

Despite their outlaw image, most bikers do live by a code with some strict rules. Chief among these is that you do not mess with another man’s “hog.” However, Superman violates this most sacred of rules in the opening pages of Action Comics #1065.

Written by Joshua Williamson, with art by Rafa Sandoval, Action Comics #1065 continues the House of Brainiac storyline. The event opened with Brainiac kidnapping Superman’s family and everyone else in Metropolis with superpowers. This led to an unlikely alliance with Lobo, as Brainiac had enlisted a captured city of his people, the Czarnians, as soldiers. It also resulted in an unlikely chase, with the Man of Steel and Lobo riding modified space cycles to follow Brainiac.

Faced with a rumble, and the fearsome Czarnian general Chacal, Superman is quicker than usual to fight. Part of this is due to his uncharacteristic anger over his family being kidnapped. However, it is also part of a strategic strike to take out their attacker’s vehicles, despite this being a major violation of biker etiquette. (In fairness to the Man of Steel, however, the Czarnians did trash his and Lobo’s space bikes first.)

Will Superman Face a New Luthor/Brainiac Alliance?

The preview of Action Comics #1065 also shows Lex Luthor assisting Brainiac with his work. The two villains have worked together previously. However, the current Superman series has shown Luthor making some small efforts towards redemption.

Beyond handing control of his company over to the Man of Steel and instructing his employees to help him do good, Luthor has also aided him in fighting some threats to their city. It is possible, however, that Luthor is only aiding Brainiac to gain an advantage and help Superman to free his fellow captives. It is equally likely, however, that Luthor is about to return to his usually treacherous ways.
