On Tuesday (Aug. 8), NPR’s “Tiny Desk Concert” series hosted Action Bronson as their latest guest. During a roughly 30-minute set, the NYC talent blessed online viewers and the audience in the room with live renditions of “Dmtri,” “Live from the Moon,” “Baby Blue” (sans Chance The Rapper), and more.

During his performance of “Terry,” Action stumbled over the lyrics and asked his band, Human Growth Hormone, to start over. “If I don’t do it right, it’s not right,” he said before admitting the real reason behind the minor mishap. “I also want to let you know the edibles just hit, and I’ve been pretty good so far. I’ve been holding my s**t together,” the artist proclaimed as attendees laughed. He also explained that he was rubbing his head as he rapped because he “was trying to download the words.” Ultimately, the slip up did little to derail a solid production.

In the video’s description, Bobby Carter, one of the “Tiny Desk” producers, pointed out that Action inadvertently drifted away from the microphone several times throughout — an issue that the NPR team was warned about beforehand, as the XXL Freshman alum is known to bring high levels of energy to a stage. “Sure enough, the Flushing, Queens emcee strolled off mic a couple of times, did an about face here and there, and even took a knee mid-show,” Carter stated. “By the time we got to ‘Latin Grammys,’ he looked over to our engineer, Josh Rogosin, and said, ‘I told you I couldn’t stand still. How do you play music still?'”

In 2022, Action liberated his seventh studio LP, Cocodrillo Turbo, a 10-track effort with assists from Conway The Machine, Hologram, Meyhem Lauren, Roc Marciano, and Yung Mehico. Since then, the part-time chef remained on the music radar via appearances on songs like Logic’s “In my lifetime,” Larry June and The Alchemist’s “Solid Plan,” and Valee and Harry Fraud’s “Vibrant.”
