MISHAWAKA — The Acting Ensemble presents two productions this week at 602 E. Mishawaka Ave.:

• A staged reading of A.R. Gurney’s “Mrs. Farnsworth” at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 7

• A Mainstage production of Jeffrey Hatcher’s “Three Viewings” at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 10-12 and 16-17 and at 2 p.m. Nov. 19

In “Mrs. Farnsworth,” the very proper, well-educated Connecticut wife and mother Margery Farnsworth signs up for a writing course with the intent of penning a tell-all book about the president (think 2004 election), with whom she has shared a shady past.

Instructor Gordon Bell is all too happy to help Mrs. Farnsworth get the truth out. In swoops her husband, Forrest Farnsworth, who with beguiling charm and tender passion for his wife presents quite a different view of their collected history and politics.

Directed by Cat Kristoff, the reading stars Joyce Dudley, Niall Garvin, Kule Hutslar, Monte Kristoff, Jordan Rossi and Jan Turney.

Tickets are $11-$10.

Hatcher’s “Three Viewings” presents a moving portrait of small-town life set in a Midwestern funeral parlor over a three-day Christmas weekend.

Three quirky characters to tell their separate stories, woven together with common threads of characters and plots.

Emil is a mild-mannered undertaker whose unspoken passion for a local real estate woman who comes to all his funerals leads him to commit crimes and plot a way to confess his true feelings before time — and bodies — run out.

Mac, a beautiful Los Angeles drifter, makes her living stealing jewelry from corpses.

And Virginia, the widow of a wheeler-dealer contractor, discovers that her husband has left her in debt to the banks, her family and the mob.

Directed by R. Michael Beatty, the production stars Mary Ann Moran, Judy Spigle and Bill Svelmoe.

Tickets are $19-$16.
