SAULT STE. MARIE — This Mother's Day, Sault Ste. Marie will play host to acrobats, elephants and more when the circus comes to town.

The Carden International Circus has been bringing its lineup of aerialists, animal trainers, contortionists, acrobats, clowns and more to audiences for almost 60 years. Led by Ringmaster “Lucky” Malats, the circus includes over 80 performers from all over the world, including Brazilian aerialist Veronica Prado.

"The show is not only for kids but for the whole family," said Prado. "It's a perfect day to go out and celebrate Mother's Day."

The main act is a surprise, and will only be reveled on the day of the event.

"I am always excited to see people's reactions to our new shows and big surprise performance," said Prado.

Animal lovers can also expect to see tricks from elephants, llamas, camels, ponies and more throughout the show. The venue will be open to visitors for an hour before each show for fun pre-show activities, like elephant and camel rides and face painting.

While the circus travels internationally, they return to the Soo fairly regularly.

"We return to Sault Ste. Marie every year or so. We're excited to see the city again and the river," said Prado.

The circus will have two showings while in Sault Ste. Marie, at 2 and 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 12 at Pullar Stadium.
