Former Tishomingo resident Miranda Lambert delivered a fiery televised premiere of her new single “Wranglers” Thursday night during the Academy of Country Music Awards.

To debut her sizzling country-rock tale of a woman scorned, the 38-time ACM Awards winner took the stage at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas, in an outfit fitting her Lone Star State roots: a denim ensemble with a black cowboy hat, bejeweled chaps, fringed jacket, large belt buckle and golden horseshoe necklace.

But the song represents a reunion for Lambert and an Oklahoma native and acclaimed songwriter: Audra Mae, who wrote "Wranglers" with Evan McKeever and Ryan Carpenter.

How is Miranda Lambert's new song 'Wranglers' a reunion with an Oklahoma songwriter?

A Putnam City High School graduate, Mae, who also sings on the new track, previously co-wrote Lambert's feisty 2015 hit "Little Red Wagon."

"Audra Mae and I were writing songs and talking about our past and talking about things we'd gone through in our life. And she sent me that song a month later. She was like, 'I songed it, some of the things we talked about,'" Lambert told The Tennessean's Marcus K. Dowling behind the scenes at the ACM Awards before debuting "Wranglers."

The three-time Grammy Award winner added that "Wranglers" feels like it would be at home on a record alongside her blazing early hits like "Gunpowder & Lead" and "Kerosene."

Working with fellow Grammy-winning songwriter/producer Jon Randall, Lambert convened a band of top musicians at Austin’s storied Arlyne Recording Studios to record "Wranglers."

The song marks Lambert’s first new solo music since her Grammy-, ACM- and Country Music Association-nominated 2022 album "Palomino."

"Wranglers" also is Lambert's first release under her new deal with Republic Records that includes strategic support from Nashville-based Big Loud.

How can fans rewatch the 2024 ACM Awards?

Big winners on the 59th ACM Awards included Lainey Wilson, Chris Stapleton, Jelly Roll and Luke Combs.

Hosted by Oklahoma country music superstar Reba McEntire, the full rebroadcast of the 59th ACM Awards now is available to watch on Prime Video.

The awards show will be available to stream starting at 7 p.m. Friday, May 17 on the Amazon Music App and for free on Amazon Freevee.
